| Description | : | Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery now lies 115 feet below water at the bottom of Lake Jocassee -- a man made lake created by a dam. In recent years divers began to explore the lake bottom. They found the old Mount Carmel Baptist Church cemetery, where a scene of the movie "Deliverance" was filmed. Some of the bodies in the cemetery were moved before the dam was completed that created the lake, but others still remain below the lake. |
