Description : The New Springfield Baptist Church was organized in the year 1867. The church was led by Rev. L. B. Carter who had once served as pastor of the historic Springfield Baptist Church in Augusta, Georgia from which this church received its name. Sister Rachel Young was given this location for Christian worship. The first worship service was held outside in a brush arbor. The first building was a small log house.
