This cemeterty is located about a mile west and a mile north of the present day Keener Cemetery. ************************ My great grandfather and grandmother, Joe W Keener and Betsy (Cooweescoowee) Keener, believed to be the patriarch and matriarch of the Keener family after the removal of the Cherokee from Georgia and North Carolina, are buried here.
