Description	:	Ooton Cemetery is comprised a eight graves of pioneer children and that of one modern-day infant. The Ooton family were pioneer settlers in this part of Madison County, Indiana. They set aside a small piece of land for the burial of their children and those of a two other familes. These graves testify to the harsh living conditions and a high mortality rate among many 19th century rural children. The recent infant burial joins her with children from another era. A restoration project reset the stones in family groups since the graves' original locations could not be determined accurately.
