| Description | : | This is the original burial location, near the Indian village of Bishnupur, where British Major General Orde Charles Wingate and nine others, including seven American military personnel, were buried in a mass grave following the crash of their US Army Air Force B-25 Mitchell bomber aircraft while returning from Burma on an inspection of Chindit-held bases. The bodies were burned beyond recognition and unidentifiable. Three years later, all the remains were exhumed and reinterred at Arlington National Cemetery, since the majority of them were Americans. |
