| Description | : | William Overton arrived here in 1845 and in October of that year purchased from the U.S. government the land on which this graveyard was established. William and his wife, Crispy Ann are reputed to have had as many as nineteen children, so it probably seemed natural to create their own cemetery. Both were dead by 1870 and their son, James Smith Overton, took over the farm. James' parents-in-law, William and Ann Rowson, lived just north of the Overton farm.
