Description	:	The Pierson Cemetery (sometimes recorded as “Pierson’s Cemetery") is a small but well-maintained cemetery located on a forested knoll at the northeast corner of N. Gibbs Road and McClellan Road in Springport Township, Jackson County, Michigan. The cemetery is named for the Pierson family, the original owners of the land, and many of their descendants are buried here. The earliest marked grave is from 1850. In the 1930s, a DAR survey was done of the cemeteries in Jackson County, but the burials in Pierson were mistakenly confused with those in the Springport Cemetery, making the information largely in error. The cemetery is named for the Pierson family, the original owners of the land, and many of their descendants are buried here. The earliest marked grave is from 1850. In the 1930s, a DAR survey was done of the cemeteries in Jackson County, but the burials in Pierson were mistakenly confused with those in the Springport Cemetery, making the information largely in error. In 2011, a second survey was done using cadaver dogs, which located and plotted dozens of burials which were unmarked.
