Description	:	This cemetery was visited in April 1972 by Mr. and Mrs. Sidney D. Kirby, and Mr. Billy C. Grimm (descendants of John A. Polk). This is the Polk Cemetery, which is located near the old Polk home. The house was still standing in April 1972, but had been remodeled in the early 1900s. An old stone chimney appeared to have been the original. The old graveyard contained no markers, but had several old sand stones to mark the graves. The cemetery was a mass of honeysuckle and bushes. Kyle Hufstedler Largent (granddaughter of John A. Polk), recalled in April 1972, that the following had been buried in this cemetery: 1) John Alexander Polk;, born 1823, died 1887; 2) Telitha Taylor Polk, second wife of John Alexander Polk; 3) Thomas Polk, son of John and Talitha Polk; 4) Mary Elizabeth Tucker, granddaughter of Thomas Polk; 5) Sadie Alice Hufstedler, four year old sister of Kyle Hufstedler Largent; This information comes from the cemetery visitation mentioned above in the introduction, as recorded in the publication "River Counties, July 1977."
