Description	:	Preston Cemetery is located on Plenty Rd, about 10km north from Melbourne city centre. It covers an area of approximately 14 acres with over 24,000 graves. The land was originally donated by the MacLean family in the 1840s with one early burial being Alan MacLean, age 80, who died 4 November 1844. Over the years the cemetery has been known by 4 different names: MacLean Cemetery, Darebin Creek Cemetery, Strathallan Cemetery and the present day Preston Cemetery. Unfortunately, the early burial registers were destroyed by fire in the early 1900s when the wooden hut used by the cemetery burnt down....
