Read More	In the Dickins' family Bible* there are notes written by Mary Hicks (1811-1885; FAG # 82209055), granddaughter of Robert Dickins and his wife Mary Browne: "My grandfather Robert Dickins came from England…. The burial ground is enclosed within a rock wall; the ground is mostly covered by periwinkle with irises scattered among the graves. Several graves are marked by soapstone gravestones which according to a local historian is not native to this area but comes from quarries in the mountains of Virginia and were common to tombstones of the late 1700's. The stones were professionally shaped and "Consort of" was professionally engraved, then the purchased gravestones were brought to NC where the actual names were scratched into the soft stone with a sharp point. There are also field stones without engraved markers, presumably marking graves of other family members such as children or possibly slaves. Location: On Arcadia Dr (private) off Mt Harmony Church Road (SR 1721). Directions: From Roxboro, take 158-E, turn right (south) on Mt Harmony Church Road. Travel about 1.4 miles. Arcadia Drive will be on the left. The burial site is approximately 700 ft from Mt Harmony Church Road, traveling on Arcadia Drive which becomes unpaved, passing the old & abandoned Jones house on the right. The Robert Dickins Family burial ground is adjacent to the John R Jones Family burial ground. Mr Jones bought the property 20 Sep 1853 from Robert Beasley. Clifton Jones (1900-1988 FAG # 35953360) erected new stones for Amy Smith, Jesse Dickins, and Frances Dickins due to toppled/broken/illegible old stones. He also erected cenotaphs for Robert Beasley a prior owner, and for Benjamin Sumner who had had a nearby school, the foundation of which is said to be about ½ mile north of the burial grounds. *Mary Hicks, "The Dickins Family Bible," Ansearchin' News Quarterly of Tennessee Genealogical Society Vol 8 No 18 (Jan 1961): 8-13; digital image, Tennessee Genealogical Society.
