| Description | : | Saint Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church was founded in July 1916 when Archbishop Edmond Prendergast sent Father Joseph M. McShain to Drexel Hill to find suitable land to build a church. A small wooden chapel was replaced with a substantial stone building in 1928, but due to the Great Depression the church itself was not completed as envisioned until the 1960s. The 2nd Pastor, Rev. John J. Hughes, dedicated the completed Church in 1963 and was buried alongside Father McShain upon his own death in 1972. |
