| Description | : | While the origins of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Wilmette date back to the 1870s, the planning stages for a columbarium didn't begin until decades later when parishioners requested a place for interment close to where many of life's important moments are celebrated—the church. A design by architect H. Wallace Atkinson transformed the south lawn into a garden with gently curving walls and walkways to encourage meditation, memory, and prayer.
