| Description | : | This was one of the largest Acadian cemeteries established before the Deportation of 1755. The cemetery lies within the grounds of the Grand-Pré National Historic site and was discovered by archaeologists during an on-going excavation. The parish was founded in 1686, although settlers started moving to the area in 1680. Since burial records in the Mines Basin are incomplete, many of the memorials in this cemetery are based on where the person was living at the time of his or her death, according to their last known residence per census records, baptismal records of children, etc. |
