Description : The current church replaced the original church, Walter Meeting House, named after Joseph Walter who donated the land in 1829. The land for the current church was donated by Joseph Walter Jr. in 1857. The current church was moved, in tact, 675 feet from its original location in 1956. The Cumberland County Historical Society has no record of this church ever being known as St. James Church; however, a burial list exists which documents the contrary. This burial list can be found at http://files.usgwarchives.net/pa/cumberland/cemeteries/silspr01.txt A church history was written by Genifrede Walter in 1923, which references a story about a little boy...
