Description	:	The first cemetery in St. Charles was located at the southeast corner of South Fifth Street and Illinois Street - the so called "school house lot," named because the West Side School was built here in 1854. Durant referred to Stephen Young, the first person to die in St. Charles, who was first buried on the James T. Wheeler farm, but who was "subsequently taken up and interred with Archie Moody, on the school house lot, where the remains of both still lie."
