Description	:	Before 1837 the Senseney farm and its cemetery were located in Frederick Co. MD. In 1837 this area became part of Carroll Co. MD. According to the book "Names in Stone, Maryland, Volume 2" the Senseney Family Cemetery was located on the east side of McKinstry's Mill Road, across from Priestland Road, one mile north of McKinstry's Mill. On October 1, 1965 an article appeared in The Gettysburg Times entitled "A Bit of History About Early Settlers - The Senseney Family and Its Burial Ground" by B.F.M. MacPherson. According to the book "Names in Stone, Maryland, Volume 2" the Senseney Family Cemetery was located on the east side of McKinstry's Mill Road, across from Priestland Road, one mile north of McKinstry's Mill. On October 1, 1965 an article appeared in The Gettysburg Times entitled "A Bit of History About Early Settlers - The Senseney Family and Its Burial Ground" by B.F.M. MacPherson. The article states: "… in Carroll County, Maryland, on the road leading from Linwood to McKinstrey's Mills, where the Priestland Road opens into it, near the edge of a field - is the Senseney family burial ground. Its site is marked by a small grove of trees. The plot is badly overgrown and the gravestones were recently removed by a descendant and a chart made as to their location. Apparently it is planned to clean up the ground and replace the stones in more or less permanent fashion." This, however, was not done. Sometime after 1965, all or most of the gravestones at the Senseney Family Cemetery were moved to Pipe Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery, also in Union Bridge, Carroll Co. MD. The remains of all of the deceased, however, are still in the ground at the original location. Some of the gravestones that are known to have been moved to Pipe Creek are those belonging to: Isaac Senseney, his brother Christian Senseney and Christian's wife Nancy Ann (Appler) Senseney and their children Alexander Hanson Senseney and Jacob Senseney. According to the book "Names in Stone, Maryland, Vol. 2" the above listed individuals were buried at the Senseney Family Cemetery. Also buried there were infants Hannah Senseney and Ida E. Senseney. According to the above mentioned newspaper article, also buried at the Senseney Family Cemetery were Dr. John Senseney and his wife Mary, the original owners of the farm and the parents of Isaac and Christian. Gravestones for Dr. John, Mary, Hannah and Ida have not been found at Pipe Creek.
