Description	:	The Silver Creek Cemetery is very special and unique, with plenty of character. The cemetery is located on Salmon River Road in the heart of Silver Creek. This is a public cemetery with the earliest marked burial in 1911; however records from the Methodist Church and Salmon Arm Observer indicate burials as early as 1908. The cemetery is located on Salmon River Road in the heart of Silver Creek. This is a public cemetery with the earliest marked burial in 1911; however records from the Methodist Church and Salmon Arm Observer indicate burials as early as 1908. The cemetery is still in use today. It appears to be only partially maintained. The cemetery is located on steep terrain where the vegetation is thick with trees and bushes. There are no lawn or grassy areas. Some clearing is done on occasion. The graves are arranged in tiers. There are approximately 98 marked graves, along with a monument saying "The Wall Family". The cemetery is supposedly laid out in five sections (A, B, C, D and E), however this is not readily evident within the cemetery. A path that heads right off the main walkway leads to several sets of stairs, both up and down, where graves are found in small groupings. There are a number of unmarked graves that are discernable. The markers are mainly made of slate, marble or concrete material, however there are some metal funeral home markers. The cemetery is surrounded by a barbed wire fence although portions of this fence are falling down. From Hwy 97 Turn north on Salmon River Road and it is 18.4 km to cemetery. The cemetery will be on the left hand side, just past the Silver Creek store. From Salmon Arm Take Hwy 1 East and turn left on Salmon River Road, following sign for Fly Hills Recreational Area. Follow the paved road (includes 10 Ave, 50 St, 50 Ave, 70 St and 80 St) for about 13 km. The cemetery is on the right hand side and is not easily seen from the road. If you come to the Silver Creek Store, you've gone too far.
