Description : The cemetery was organized in the 15th century. Jewish population: 1200 by mid-17th century, 1400 by 1797, and 10,000 by the. second half of the 19th century. The cemetery was destroyed by Nazis during World War II, though a few headstones and the ruined cemetery gates remain standing. A monument to the destroyed local communities that perished in the Holocaust is located near the old cemetery gates.
