"A commorative marker at the cemetery indicates it was originally the Thomas Silvey Cemetery." Indiana Cemetery Locations, Volume 1, published by the Indiana Genealogical Society (02 April 2005), gives the primary cemetery name as Spring Valley Cemetery with an alternate name of Reddick Cemetery. The cemetery is listed in the Cemetery and Burial Grounds Registry of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and in the State Historical Architectural and Archaeological Research Database (SHAARD) with Cemetery Record Number CR-49-52 (Spring Valley / Reddick Farm / Fort Harrison / Thomas Silvey Graveyard). The Indiana Historic Sites and Structures Inventory (IHSSI) survey number for Spring Valley Cemetery is 097-295-01088 with the dataset compiled in 1992. Joshua Reddick was born May 20, 1804 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William Reddick and Margaret Trump. He spent his younger years in Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Ohio. In the year 1823 he followed his older brother Elisha Reddick to Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana. After raising a small crop in the fall of 1824 he traveled back to Ohio to bring his parents and sisters back with him to Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana. In 1825 Joshua, his parents and sisters traveled by covered wagon to Lawrence Township. Once there Joshua's father William entered 160 acres of land for his youngest son Joshua. The land was established as a farm and known as the Elijah Fletcher farm. Later it was called the Joshua Reddick Farm. On the farm Joshua and William set apart a site for a burial ground that was later called and stilled known as the Tom Silvey Graveyard. This graveyard is now part of the Benjamin Harrison State Park. His father William and mother Margaret lived on the farm until William's death in Oct. 1831. After his father's death his mother Margaret moved to Clinton County, Illinois.
