Description : This old Strickland Cemetery, established in 1853, is located on land that once belonged to Rev Simeon Strickland, a Methodist Circuit Rider preacher. When the land was sold to a developer, it was determined that the buildings be built around the historic cemetery and so the cemetery is located behind Hawthorne Plaza between the buildings at the “V.” It is thought that there could be unknown burials here as well as the marked graves.. The local Boy Scout Troup 531 restored and continues to maintain the cemetery.
