John Tapscott owned a majority portion of the Warren Ferry in the middle of the 19th century. Buckingham County Tapscotts all descend from George Tapscott (1748-1787) and Sarah "Sally" Hill (1745-1800), who migrated from Lancaster County, Va and settled on Rock Island Creek in Buckingham County, Va in the late 18th century.
