Located in the Falling Creek vicinity of Lenoir County, North Carolina, it was purchased in 1876 by the Kennedy family, who were among Lenoir County's largest landowners. It was the home of Thomas Jefferson Kennedy, and later his son, Capt. William Lafayette Kennedy. Capt.
