Description : All Lutherans in Myerstown belonged to Christ Lutheran Church in Stouchsburg. A movement was begun in 1811 to establish a congregation in Myerstown. Michael Mosser and Simon Bassler, descendants of the early settlers from the Schoharie Valley NY, freely and without monetary consideration, presented the land for church and burial purposes. The first church was a one story stone structure dedicated November 1, 1812. After 45 years, the congregation had outgrown this facility.
