Description	:	The Wheeler Cemetery, once located near Middle Road in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee, was totally destroyed in 2010 by farmers clearing for more cropland. It is unknown whether the farmers were aware that the two remaining stones were there in the overgrown trees and underbrush; however, the gravestones for John A. Read More	The Wheeler Cemetery, once located near Middle Road in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee, was totally destroyed in 2010 by farmers clearing for more cropland. It is unknown whether the farmers were aware that the two remaining stones were there in the overgrown trees and underbrush; however, the gravestones for John A. Wheeler and his first wife, Drucilla (Peek) Wheeler, were still standing and "read" in 2004, and their information was posted on the Gibson County, Tennessee, website. In the Spring of 2010, a search for the gravestones led to the discovery of a huge pile of fallen trees that had been bulldozed to clear an overgrown fence row. With the help of an elderly gentleman farmer who once owned the land, the search led to the area where they were known to originally stand. The trees had been pushed up and left to rot on top of the old cemetery. No further searching could be done until the crops were out of the field and the snakes were asleep. In the Fall of 2010, while combining soybeans, the farmers' machinery caught fire setting the field and piles of trees ablaze. More bulldozer work was done. A later search of the field around the partially burned pile of rubble and fresh bulldozer tracks produced broken stones scattered across the field. They were gathered and pieced together and found to be the gravestones for John and Drucilla Wheeler. Since the pieces were partially buried, broken and scattered around the rubble pile, there is no way of knowing where they originally stood.
