Description	:	Woodland Cemetery was initially laid out in 1875 from land owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Caraway (original charter dated 4 Oct 1875). They suggested the name Woodland and the first burials were in 1875. Additional acreage owned by their daughter, Laura Alice Caraway, was added in 1896. In the center of the cemetery is a large monument presented by Samuel Kenton as a memorial to the soldiers of the Civil War. Possibly the confusion occurs because it is located next to the Woodlawn residential subdivision. Today Woodland is a private cemetery, not a township cemetery.
