Description	:	Zemaiciu Naumiestis cemetery is located on eastern edge of Zemaiciu Naumiestis. Its longest dimension runs on an east-west (actually 125°-305°) axis for 350 meters along the north side of Highway number 165. It averages 110 meters from the road to the back, and the total area is 3.7 hectares (9 acres). The first 4 sections are surrounded by stone walls. Section #5, the newest section, is set off by a metal fence and is set back 35 meters from the road to provide for parking. The first 3 sections were originally established as separate burial areas for the Orthodox, Catholic and Lutheran churches. They are still known by these sectarian names today, although religious segregation has ceased to be strictly observed for many years. Later sections #4 and #5 were always open to all religious faiths. The 4 oldest sections are basically full, except that there is a pronounced depressed area along the section #1-#2 border with few graves; section #5, as currently configured, is about 70% full. There are high trees partially covering the 4 oldest sections. In the interest of maximizing searchability, all names are spelled without the diacritics of the Lithuanian alphabet which commonly appear on grave monuments. Since Lithuanian last names indicate gender and (in the case of females) marital status, every effort was made to follow correct naming conventions. No comprehensive attempt was made to transcribe the 3000-4000 names in the whole cemetery. Initial memorials focus on relatives of the Findagrave manager‘s wife.
