Description	:	A. Kenneth Brendtro was born at Crooks, SD on Jul. 12, 1912, the son of Olaf and Anne (Oyen) Brendtro, who homesteaded in Harding County, SD. He attended school and grew up near Crooks and Lyons. He graduated from Washington High School, Sioux Falls, in 1930,and later graduated from Nettleton Business College. Kenneth Brendtro was born at Crooks, SD on Jul. 12, 1912, the son of Olaf and Anne (Oyen) Brendtro, who homesteaded in Harding County, SD. He attended school and grew up near Crooks and Lyons. He graduated from Washington High School, Sioux Falls, in 1930,and later graduated from Nettleton Business College. He joined the C.C.C. during the early 1930's. On Oct. 2, 1937 he married Bernice Matz at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and enjoyed 53 years of married life. The couple lived in Crooks for ten years where he owned and operated a gas station,and also was employed at John Morrell & Co. They made their home in Lennox since 1947. Kenneth was manager of Farm Gas Co-op Association in Lennox for 28 years, retiring in 1974. He then drove a school bus for the Lennox School District for several years. His wife preceded him in death on Jul. 14, 1991. For his hobbies he enjoyed camping, fishing and water skiing with his grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Lincoln and Merton Brendtro. Kenneth died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Jul. 7, 1993, following a two-year illness of cancer. He attained the age of 80 years, 11 months and 25 days. Grateful for having shared his life are six children: Dr. Larry Brendtro of Lennox, Rev. Don Brendtro of Rapid City, Paul Brendtro of Charlevoix, MI., Susan Buus of Lennox, Joan Mihalko of Elkton, and Sandi Brendtro of Lennox; 15 grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Brendtro of Plymouth, MN., and one sister, Iola Brendtro of Sioux Falls.
