Description	:	Marie Buxton Dalrymple passed away October 31, 2020. Marie was born August 23, 1928, in Flint, MI, to John Edward and Ila M. (Servoss) Buxton. Marie graduated from Flint Central High School in 1946. She married Jean Moe Dalrymple of Buchanan, MI, on September 3, 1949, in Flint after Jean graduated from General Motors Institute. Marie and Jean spent their early married life in Lansing, MI, as Jean pursued a Master's and a PhD in Engineering from Michigan State University. Marie and Jean spent their early married life in Lansing, MI, as Jean pursued a Master's and a PhD in Engineering from Michigan State University. They moved to Calumet, MI, in 1962 when Jean accepted a professorship in Engineering Mechanics at Michigan Technological University. After her children were well-established in school, Marie returned to school herself. She first completed a certificate as a Licensed Practical Nurse from Northern Michigan University in 1971 and then an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Ferris State University in 1974. She passed the state board exam for Registered Nurses with flying colors and kept that license and worked as a Registered Nurse in several positions across upper and lower Michigan, ending with her own business providing care to severely disabled children in a foster home in Flint. Marie established the business when Jean retired from MTU in 1988 and they moved back to Marie's roots in Flint. Marie and Jean first visited the Crystal Lake area in 1993 and were smitten with the beauty of the area and the small town feel. They purchased their home in the Village of Beulah in 1994 and moved up full-time when Marie retired at the age of 72. They also bought a home in the Lower Garden District of New Orleans, LA, where they spent the winter months. Marie was predeceased by Jean, her husband of 64 years; her brothers, Harold and John Buxton; and two sisters, Vera Dunlop and Anita Duckworth. She is survived by: three sisters, Evelyn Larsen of Stockton, CA (formerly of Manistee, MI), Betty Peterson of Big Rapids, MI, and Laura Buxton of Burton, MI; three children, Gayle Dalrymple (Carl Ragland) of Frankfort, Tod (Carla) Dalrymple of Hamburg, MI, and Heather McCallister (Byron Ward) of Flint; five grandchildren, Heather Ragland Gittings, Elaine and Jenna Dalrymple, Jerry Greenleaf, and Danielle Lomelin; and nine great-grandchildren, Penelope and Genevieve Gittings, Madison and McKenzie Woods, Eli Greenleaf, Mallory and Jason Edmiston, and Mackenzie and Emmalii Lomelin. She has many nieces and nephews. Family was everything to Marie and she loved her country and Beulah. In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider making a donation to Marie's favorite charity, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (www.nami.org), Benzie Senior Resources (www.benzieseniorresources.org), or a charity of your choice. Marie will be cremated and her ashes interred with those of her husband in Benzonia Township Cemetery. A service is tentatively planned for August 2021.
