Description	:	Obituary: "Aaron Burr Tackaberry, the only son of William and Cynthia Tackaberry, was born in Scotland County, Mo., Jan. 26, 1876. He grew to be seventeen years old when his father died. The home duties were heavy for a boy of his years, but he went bravely on. Read More	Obituary: "Aaron Burr Tackaberry, the only son of William and Cynthia Tackaberry, was born in Scotland County, Mo., Jan. 26, 1876. He grew to be seventeen years old when his father died. The home duties were heavy for a boy of his years, but he went bravely on. As he grew to manhood he woed (sic) and won the hand of Gertie Gillette of Mt. Sterling, Iowa, in marriage and they were united in marriage, Sept. 26, 1897. There were born to them three children, two girls and a boy. One little girl died in infancy, leaving Olan and Iree. T.S. Stonebraker was a foster father to Burr and there was a very dear and lasting friendship between them. When but a boy 14 years old he united with the church and was ever a faithful and true member to the extent of his ability. He was a quiet Christian man in his manner and never forced himself in, no matter where. After a few years spent on the farm they moved to Cantril in the year 1902 and have made their home here with our people. He became an Odd Fellow and united with the Prairie Gem lodge July 18, 1908, and had filled every position in the lodge and just two weeks ago was elected permanent clerk. He was raised as a Mason, May 5, 1910, and was a member of Apollo lodge and could work in any station in the lodge. He also was a Modern Woodman and was clerk of the local camp at his death. He belonged to the Gospel team and the mens class of the Methodist Sunday School taught by Ira Creath. With all his many duties he was a great home body and was there that his memory will linger longest in community, as a man who was never too busy to be put to find time for all the church and home called for. He took suddenly ill on Sunday and failed very rapidly and the end came Thursday, October 12, 1922. The deceased cannot be replaced in our community life. He was one of our foremost citizens. His strength and breadth of mind was manifest in all of his dealings, his kindness, liberality, love, generosity, having endeared him to all and his name will be revered by all. He was one of God's good men. He leaves to mourn the immediate family, wife, children, also three sisters, Mrs. George Rugh of Cantril, Mrs. Arthur Clark of Keosauqua, Mrs. Harry Gillette of Ft. Madison. Funeral service was held in the Methodist church, Cantril, Saturday at 1:30, Rev. Tennant, a former pastor in charge. The large congregation present was a token of the high esteem in which he was held by all. He had been a member of the school board as its secretary for the past six years, and in his honor the entire school had an honor escort in a phalanx of over one hundred children. The chief officers of the various organizations were seated with the choir on the platform. Interment in the local cemetery."
