Aaron Clark Fales, at the age of 19 years, on the 19th of April 1775 marched as a Fifer from Walpole to Lexington and Concord through Medfield, Dover and Sherborn. His name is shown in a Muster Roll of a Militia Company in Walpole in Col. John Smith's Regt. marched in consequence of alarm April 19, 1775. A Muster Roll of Capt. Jeremiah Smith's Co. in Coloney's service which marched from Walpole Dec. 4, 1775, in Col. John Smith's Regt. Also shows his name still as a Fifer. During the war he rendered various terms of service. He was a member of the 7th Company, commanded by Capt. Perez Cushing, in Crafts Regiment of Artillery of which Paul Revere was Lt. Col. He took part in the building fortifications of Dorchester Heights which caused the British forces to evacuate Boston. He was at West Point under the command of Benedict Arnold before the latter's desertion, in fact, the family relates that he saw Arnold rowed off, by light men of his company to the British Brig. Aaron Clark Fales was at all times unfailing in his Loyalty to, and rendered active service in, the cause of American Independence. NOTE: Full service of Aaron Clark Fales is found on Page 478 of Massachusetts Sailors and Soldiers in the War of the Revolution.
