OBITUARY THE RUSSELL UNION-TRIBUNE Russell, Iowa Thursday, October 24, 1957 Aaron Emerson Collins, son of Daniel and Hannah Collins, was born in Marion County, Iowa, May 5, 1876, and departed from this life at his home in Russell, October 14, 1957, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 9 days. He grew to manhood near Columbia and followed the occupation of farming throughout his life. On December 18, 1902, he was united in marriage to Claudia Hale. The new home was established on a farm northwest of Russell, and the years of his active life were spent in that vicinity. Six years ago they moved to Russell where they have since lived. Three sons were born into the home, one dying in infancy. The others are Donald C. and Clare, both of Russell. Besides the sorrowing wife and sons, he leaves to mourn their loss 5 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Fletcher, John and Charlie. He had been in failing health for several months and was tenderly cared for in the home by the loved ones of the family circle. About 40 years ago Aaron accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Evangelical Church at Beulah. Throughout the years he was a loyal supporter of the Lord's work and served in various offices of the Church and as Sunday School Superintendent. He remained steadfast in his faith to the end and left a fine Christian testimmony to his family and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held in the Miley Chapel Wednesday, October 16,, at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
