Description	:	Married to Rebecca Caudle Hodges and buried next to her. On Aug 14, 1862, Edmond (24) and brother John Hodges (22) enlisted in the 33 Regiment Inf Vols Co C at St. Louis, Missouri. At that time, their residence was Syracuse, Missouri. In October their father Aaron (age 44-he had to lie about his age to get in) set out to find them, and on October 6, 1864 he enlisted in the 45 Regiment Inf Vols Co. A at Jefferson City, Missouri. Edmund was 5'11" with gray eyes and dark complexion. The Talbotts put up the cemetery stones in Mr. Carmel for the Hodges. The 3 Hodges were Pvts. in the Army. 5. AARON2 HODGES (EDMOND1) was born August 06, 1806 in Surry County, North Carolina, and died December 22, 1893 in Benton County, Arkansas. He married REBECCA CAUDLE July 21, 1831 in Surry County, North Carolina, daughter of JOHN CAUDLE and REBECCA WILLIS. Pvt. Company A 45 Regiment, Missouri Volunteers (Civil War Service). Volunteered October 6, 1864 in Jefferson City, Missouri. The pension file was issued from Topeka, Kansas. He was a blacksmith in the war, enrolling 6-10-1864, commanded by Captain Anderson to serve six months. He was on duty at Johnsonville, Tennessee in 1864 when he contracted small pox resulting in general debility. He was treated in a small pox hospital in Kentucky and was in the hospital when his company was mustered out and he was never mustered out with his company. He was discharged on October 14, 1867? The Pension record states he died December 22, 1893. He had gray eyes, grey hair, and dark complexion. It seems that he changed his age to get into the service. Living with his son, Daniel at the time of his death in Benton County, Arkansas. "In the matter of Aron Hodges Estate, John R. Hodges states that the best of his knowledge and belief, the names of heirs of the said Aron Hodges deceased, and their places of residence, are respectively: Lina Fowler, Martha Hodges, Edmond Hodges, John R. Hodges, Permelia Fowler, Nancy Akins deceased and children- all above in Morgan County, Daniel Hodges, Benton, Arkansas, Elizabeth Davis deceased who has 5 children in Pettis County, Missouri, Robert Hodges, Benton County, Missouri. Aron Hodges died without a will; that he will make a perfect? truthfully administer all the estate of the deceased and pay the debts as far as the ? and the law direct and account for and pay all assets which shall come to his knowledge." Aaron Hodge is one of the prominent and early men in the organization."
