DERR, 89, DIES NEAR MARKLE Aaron L. Derr, 89, died at 10 o'clock this morning at his home, three miles east of Markle. His death was attributed to complications. The decedent was born April 17, 1860 in Rockcreek township, Wells county to Joseph and Catherine Scott Derr. his marriage Dec. 24, 1890 (sic 25 Dec 1899) was to Bertha Haiflich. Her death occurred on Oct. 17, 1946. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Wilford Brown and Mrs. Clarence Platt, of Markle route 1, and Mrs Clarence McAfee of Bluffton rural route; two brothers, Clarence Derr, of Huntington and George Derr, of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs William Lew, of Fort Wayne and Mrs Clara Walker, of Ohio, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Cressie, is deceased. The body was removed to the McGuffey funeral home in Markle and will be returned to the residence Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the residence with Rev. R. C. Burton, pastor of the Markle Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Horeb cemetery.
