She was born Feb. 8, 1886 to Garrett and Laurette (DeVries) Van Broekhoeven at Dirksland, Holland. "She came to the United States through Ellis Island in 1890. She was educated in New Jersey, graduated from the Salvation Army Officers College and served as an officer for some time. She became a registered nurse in Pennsylvania, working in the eastern and southern United States. She married Dr. George L. Broadrup April 14, 1916, in Louisville, Ky. They worked in Hawaii during World War I. Mr. Broadrup was a medical superintendent and Mrs. Broadrup was the superintendent of nurses at Queen's General Hospital in Honolulu. Mr. Broadrup died September 29, 1937. Mrs. Broadrup continued nursing and social service work, including relief work for the people of The Netherlands." She was survived by 1 daughter Mrs Walt {Edith}Lammil at Stanton, 1 grandson, 1 granddaughter, 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers, 4 sisters.
