From 1850 to his death in 1885, Abednego lived in Boonville, Yadkin Co., NC. In 1850 he had been married to the daughter of Henry Hendrix and Anna Jenkins, Mary P. Hendrix about three years, and their first known child, Jinsy Anna Sparks was one year old. No marriage record for Abednego and Mary has been found. When Abednego D. Sparks passed away, his brother-in-law Cleophus D. Hendrix was the administrator of his estate. His widow and seven of their children living in 1885 were named in his probate record, to wit: Nancy C. Sparks, Charity E. Sparks, A. R. Sparks, Dovey Sparks now Holcomb, Amanda Sparks, Francis Sparks and Louler Sparks. In 1900 Abednego D. Sparks' widow, Mary P (nee Hendrix) Sparks reported to the census enumerator that she had given birth to ten children and only four were living.
