He had been ailing from paralysis for the past several years and met the grim reaper with the same spirit that made him one of the best known and highly respected pioneers of this section. Read More	ABEL SHAW WAS PIONEER Was Methow Valley Pioneer Coming To County 38 Years Ago Abel Shaw, 80, pioneer rancher residing near Methow, passed away at the county hospital Monday morning at 6 am. He had been ailing from paralysis for the past several years and met the grim reaper with the same spirit that made him one of the best known and highly respected pioneers of this section. Mr. Shaw came to Okanogan county 38 years ago and took up a homestead across the river from the town of Methow. He resided there since that time except for brief periods of time when he was getting medical attention during his last few years. The deceased was born in 1852 in Iowa and came to the west at the age of 7 with his parents. The family lived in Oregon for a few years before moving to Dayton, Wash. The family only resided in Dayton a short time and then moved to the Methow county where the elder Mr. Shaw and Mrs. Abe Shaw are buried. He is survived by three sons, Sam and Tom of Methow and Bob of Kellogg, Idaho and a daughter, Mrs. Lela McDowell of Pateros. Interment was at the Methow cemetery, Tuesday afternoon.
