Wilbur, former resident of Albion, who was fatally injured last Wednesday night when struck by an automobile at Omaha, were held Saturday afternoon from the Congregational church, in this city, conducted by Rev. Wilbur was born on the 21st of November 1853, in Binghamton, Broome county, New York and passed away in the hospital in Omaha, November 20th, aged 76 years, 11 months and 29 days. At the age of 26 he came to Nebraska, living at Scribner and North Bend and finally settling in Boone county on a farm near Boone. Later he took up his residence in Albion, engaging in the implement business here for a time. He was united in marriage to Miss Melvina Henwood, October 19, 1882 and to this union was born one child, Claude A. Wilbur of Omaha. Mr. Wilbur leaves to mourn his passing his son, Claude, his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Claude Wilbur and a grandson, LeBern Wilbur. His wife preceded him in death, June 19, 1919. He was a good citizen and was possessed of a congenial personality. He was always a lover of children. He was a man of good character, hard working, well read and attended the Congregational church. His sociable disposition and friendliness won for him a host of friends who are saddened by his untimely demise. (Albion Weekly News – Albion, Nebraska – November 20, 1930)
