Mar 10, 1900, Page 1 PROMINENT DEATHS - ABRAM A. TILLEY Mr. Abram A. Tilley died at his home on Summer Street shortly after six o'clock Thursday evening, in the forty-ninth year of his age. He had been ill but a short time and an operation was performed which it was hoped might lead to his recovery and he seemed to improve slightly. The rally was for not but a short time time however and he died during the relapse that followed. Mr. Tilley had long taken an interest in public affairs. In politics he was a Republican and served several terms as a member of the board of alderman. He was prominent in musical circles as well as in business and politics. For many years he conducted a market on Broadway and his business was successful. A few years ago he, with his brother Herbert C. Tilley, formed the Hygienic Ice and Water Company, engaged in the manufacture of artificial ice and the sale of pure drinking water. He was a member of Coronet Council Royal Areanum. Mr. Tilley was a son of the late Abram Tilley. He married a daughter of Mr. Joshua Brown. His widow and three daughters survive him. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church on Sunday afternoon. __________ Two of the three daughters referred to in the obituary are linked below. The third daughter, Mary Pullen (Tilley) Ullman (1878-), wife of the late Charles E. Ullman who died in Woodbridge, NJ in 1942, has yet to be determined where/when she died or buried. Last reference to her have found is when she wrote to the Gristmill section of the Newport Mercury regarding "jonny-cakes". This was in the Jun 18, 1948 edition of the paper and at the time she was still residing in NJ.
