Abraham Chastain was born Dec. 27, 1887, died in Louisville on the morning of Oct. 23, 1911, aged 23 years, 10 months and 26 days. He was the son of George A. and Sarah C. Chastain. He was married to Lela Hoar, Oct. 30, 1907, to which union was born one son and one daughter who survive him. He leaves a father, mother, four brothers, three sisters, a loving companion and a large number of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. He was a kind and obedient boy, always doing the bidding of his parents; a loving husband, and loved by all who knew him. He was never heard to speak a word against any one. He enjoyed going to church and often spoke of enjoying the services. But we sorrow not as those who have no hope, for while pressing on a dying pillow he told his loved ones to trust in Jesus and they would meet him after while, and being informed by his father just before his death that his stay on earth was short, he was asked if he had any fears of the hereafter, he answered “no.” He was asked if he was afraid to die, the answer was “Ho.” he told his wife just before going into the operating room that the Lord had promised him that he would revive after the operation and talk to us but did not know how long he would last. “Blessed are they that die in the Lord.” Since Good has seen fit to call this loving son, brother, husband and friend from us, we say, ”Thy will be done.”
