Description	:	Member of Seventh Day Adventist church Abraham Jr. was born in Aldington, Kent, England. His father was Abraham Cook, who came to America in 1852. His mother was Margaret Jane (Burchett) Cook. She died of cholera while in transit to America in late 1853, along with her son Charles and daughter Alice Ellen. Abraham Jr. came to America in 1850 when he was just a young boy along with his brother Edward, in the guardianship of John Tapley, along with a group of young immigrants from Aldington. Abraham Jr. came to America in 1850 when he was just a young boy along with his brother Edward, in the guardianship of John Tapley, along with a group of young immigrants from Aldington. They settled in Plato, Illinois. Edward and Abraham Jr then joined up with their father, brothers William and Alfred in the Belvidere/Caledonia area of Illinois. Abraham ran flour mills in Boone County, Illinois and in Placerville, California for many years. He retired to Calistoga. Aged Resident Passes to His Eternal Rest Abraham Cook, for seventeen years a resident of Calistoga, died at his home in the southern part of town last Sunday afternoon after an illness of about five months' duration, death being due to heart trouble. Mr. Cook, a highly respected citizen and farmer, was a, native of England and aged 74 years, 8 months and 18 days. He came to the United States at the age of fourteen years and was married in 1866. To the happy union ten children were born, seven of whom are living as follows: Mark N. Cook, Mrs. S.J. Matteson, A.A. Cook, Mrs. C.E. Bentley and the Misses Ada, Delia and Lydia Cook, all of this place. A widow also survives, and the sympathy of the community goes out to them in their hour of bereavement. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from his late home and was largely attended. The music was furnished by the members of the different church choirs and Elder D.E. Robinson of the sanitarium officiated. Interment was made in the Calistoga cemetery.
