Abram Hampshire, 94 years old, veteran of the Civil war and a resident of Ottumwa for forty-five years died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jennie Cramblit, in Des Moines, Sunday afternoon at 3:45 pm. He had made his home with his daughter in Des Moines for the past two years. A veteran of the Civil War, Mr. Hampshire served in Company I, 111th Ohio infantry. He was a member to Tuttle post, G.A.R. He formerly lived here at 553 Lillian street. He is survived by eight children, Lee Hampshire and Sheldon Hampshire of Fostoria, Ohio; Charles Curt, J.F. Hampshire; all of Ottumwa. Harry Hampshire of Des Moines, Mrs. I T Chedister of Kirkville and Mrs. B. F Cramblit of Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from the home of his son, J F Hampshire, 523 East Mary street, conducted by the Rev. Albert Peterson. Burial will be made in Shaul cemetery. The American Legion will assist in services at the grave and will furnish a firing squad and bugler. The body will be taken from the Johnson funeral chapel to the home of his son at 4 pm. today.
