Description	:	My husband, our father and grandfather, Abraham G. Toews son of Johann and Elizabeth (Goerky) Toews, was born June the 19, 1885, in the Village of Gruenfeld, Manitoba. He died Jan. 11, 1969, 11:30 at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 23 days. The cause of his death was hemorrhage from the stomach. Toews son of Johann and Elizabeth (Goerky) Toews, was born June the 19, 1885, in the Village of Gruenfeld, Manitoba. He died Jan. 11, 1969, 11:30 at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 23 days. The cause of his death was hemorrhage from the stomach. My husband, our father enjoyed good health in his life and was of a strong constitution, although in the latter years his health began to fail, also his eyesight become very poor. Thursday morning Jan. 9th, he became sick. As we called the Doctor and explained the condition, he advised us to take our father to the Hospital in St. Boniface. Late Thursday night emergency operation was performed but without success. Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 1969 he passed away and was relieved from his suffering. On Nov. 17, 1918 he was married to me, his now bereaved wife, Helena Wiens. We had the privilege to share joys and sorrows of life for over 50 years during our marriage. To this union, one son, Benjamin and one daughter Rozella were born. In the fall of 1921 our father was converted and on the confession of his faith was baptized and accepted as a member into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. In this membership he was at the time of his death. Father's life, spiritual and material was not a bed of roses, he had many failings, struggles and also victories. We are grateful to God that father left us this consolation, that he was ready to leave this world and was happy to meet his Saviour. Those remaining in sorrow are: I, his bereaved wife Helena, one son Benjamin and his wife, Minna; one daughter Rozella and husband Peter P. Siemens; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Peter G. Toews, Steinbach, Manitoba, and Heinrich G. Toews, Linden, Alberta; 1 sister, Elizabeth, Mrs. George Warkentin, Steinbach, Man. 5 brothers-in-law, 6 sisters-in-law and many relatives and friends. One grandchild, his parents, 2 brothers and one sister preceded him in death. -The family. Funeral services were conducted Jan. 14, 1969, in the Greenland Church at Ste Anne, Manitoba, with Min. Dave Penner bringing the introduction and prayer; and Min. John I. Penner bringing the message from (Isa. 38:1) and Heb. 13:14).
