In 1854, Absalom, Catherine and children Sarah, George, Samuel and Mary left Pennsylvania for Kansas Territory. On 9th Nov 1854, they were in the party numbering around one hundred that left Kansas City and endured a blinding snow storm to reach their destination of Council City, Weller Co (original name of Osage Co), on 14 Nov 1854.
