Born May 7, 1912, in Danville, she was the daughter of Bert and Ana Gugeler Mix. On Feb. 12, 1936, she married Howard Waters in Danville. He died Oct. 1, 1992. Mrs. Waters was a farm wife. Born May 7, 1912, in Danville, she was the daughter of Bert and Ana Gugeler Mix. On Feb. 12, 1936, she married Howard Waters in Danville. He died Oct. 1, 1992. Mrs. Waters was a farm wife. She taught school prior to her marriage. She was a graduate of Danville High School and attended Iowa Wesleyan College for two years. She was a lifelong resident of Danville and a lifetime member of Danville Congregational United Church of Christ. She was active in the work of the church on a state and national level. She was the first president of the Women's Fellowship of United Church of Christ of Iowa, past state president of both the American Cancer Society and Iowa Tuberculosis Association, a charter member of Burlington Altrusa Club and engaged in many volunteer organizations. She was listed in Who's Who of American Women Volunteers. Survivors include two nephews, Bert Hoppe of El Centro, Calif., and Paul Drinkall of Danville; and one niece, Sylvia Rogers of Arvada, Colo. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. There will be no visitation. According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. The graveside memorial service for Mrs. Waters will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Jaggar Cemetery in rural Danville, with the Rev. Fred Harris officiating. A memorial has been established for Danville Rescue Squad. Lunning Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home, 2620 Mount Pleasant St., Burlington, Iowa 52601.
