Ives Dies at Dundee Pioneer Woman Passes Away at Her Home in Village Saturday Evening at Age 84 Years Another of the pioneer women of Delaware county, Mrs. S. S. Ives, has departed for the undiscovered country. Mrs. Ives died at her home in the village of Dundee last Saturday evening, Sept. 19, 1936, in the 85th year of her age, after a long period of semi-invalidism. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Dundee Monday afternoon, the pastor, the Rev. Mr. Anderson, officiating with interment in the village cemetery. Ada L., daughter of the late Albert and Margaret Thompson, was born in Jackson, Mich., Jan. 11, 1852, and was a babe in arms when her parents came to this county, a few months later. The family located on a farm only a short distance north of Manchester, where the daughter grew to young womanhood. For some time prior to her marriage to S. S. Ives, which took place on May 23, 1876, she taught in the rural schools of the neighborhood. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Ives engaged in farming southwest of Dundee and were thus employed until 1903, when they removed to a home in Dundee. Mr. Ives passed away there June 5, 1917. Mrs. Ives is survived by two sons--Erwin S. Ives of Masonville and Wayne B. Ives of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and by three sisters, Mrs. Fred H. Munson of Manchester and Mrs. Mary E Graham and Mrs. Alice Kenyon, both living in Portland, Ore. A son, A. J. Ives, preceded her in death. She had long been a faithful member of the Methodist church, and as wife, mother, and neighbor enjoyed the sincere regard and high respect of the community of which she was so long a part. A long life, marked by industry and unselfish devotion to others, has closed here to merge into the life eternal.
