Description	:	Ada Loomis was born September, 1863, in Jefferson County, Iowa, and passed away January 13, 1921, at the home of her niece, Mary Burchett, in Seymour, Iowa. She was the youngest daughter of William and Mary Loomis. Her early life was spent on a farm with her parents near Seymour, where she fitted herself for public school teaching, following that profession for a number of years, teaching in rural schools near her home. Read More	Ada Loomis was born September, 1863, in Jefferson County, Iowa, and passed away January 13, 1921, at the home of her niece, Mary Burchett, in Seymour, Iowa. She was the youngest daughter of William and Mary Loomis. Her early life was spent on a farm with her parents near Seymour, where she fitted herself for public school teaching, following that profession for a number of years, teaching in rural schools near her home. She was united in marriage to J.C. Calhoun, April 20, 1891, making their home in Seymour, Iowa. Her husband preceded her in death on April 10, 1916. The past two years she spent at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., taking the Bible Training Course, where she would have graduated in April, 1921. She was converted and joined the Presbyterian church when a small girl; but later united with the Methodist Episcopal church where she was an earnest worker in all activities of religious life; uniting in her efforts to advance her Master's Kingdom. She was a Bible school teacher for years. She organized the King's business Class, of this church, was Sunday school superintendent for some time; also President of the Ladies Aid, and always an active personal worker for the salvation of souls. She was a charter member of the Chapter DM P.E.O. of Seymour and ever interested in its welfare. She came to Seymour Christmas day to ill to see any of her friends. She spent the last two weeks of her life with relatives, they doing all in their power to restore her to health, giving her every care possible. She leaves to mourn her departure one sister, Mrs. D.H. Kerby of Seymour, and many other friends. She was happy in the work of her Master, but to "depart and be with Jesus is far better." The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church on Friday, January 14, 1921, at 3:00p.m., conducted by Rev. L.M. Beebe, of New Sharon, Iowa, assisted by the pastor, Rev. J.F. Bingaman. Interment in Southlawn.
