Description	:	LONGMONT, Colo.— Ada Mae Marquis, 101, died on Sept. 23. She was born Ada Mae Mattal on Jan. 14, 1912, in Bison, to John J. and Sarah C. (Kleweno) Mattal. On May 16, 1929, she graduated from Bison High School. She also attended an all-girl Christian trade school in Kansas City. On June 30, 1938, she married Walter D. Marquis in Hoisington. She lived in Hoisington and Ellinwood before moving to Ogallala, Neb. in 1993 where she resided for nine years. She moved to Longmont, Colo. in 1993 living at Cinnamon Park Assisted Living. She enjoyed making new friends there... Read More	LONGMONT, Colo.— Ada Mae Marquis, 101, died on Sept. 23. She was born Ada Mae Mattal on Jan. 14, 1912, in Bison, to John J. and Sarah C. (Kleweno) Mattal. On May 16, 1929, she graduated from Bison High School. She also attended an all-girl Christian trade school in Kansas City. On June 30, 1938, she married Walter D. Marquis in Hoisington. She lived in Hoisington and Ellinwood before moving to Ogallala, Neb. in 1993 where she resided for nine years. She moved to Longmont, Colo. in 1993 living at Cinnamon Park Assisted Living. She enjoyed making new friends there before moving across town to Life Care Center in 2007. Ada loved cats and dogs, gardening, cooking, and going to movies. Ada was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Survivors include five of her seven children, Jerry Marquis of Blue Springs, Mo., Lonnie Marquis of Sallisaw, Okla., Sally (Vern) Keeslar and Carol Daugherty, both of Longmont, Colo., and John (Pam) Marquis of Ogallala, Neb. Ada has 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Virginia Mattal (infant) and Genevieve (Mattal) Schwab and her husband Walter Marquis; two sons, Ronnie Marquis (infant) and Jack D. Marquis, and two daughters-in-law. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington. Ada's Grandson, Vern Keeslar, Jr., a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will conduct the services. The interment will follow the funeral service at the Olivet Cemetery, rural Hoisington. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Golden Belt Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
