Funeral of Well Known LeMars Lady Held This Afternoon. Mrs. Sam Diediker, old and respected citizen of LeMars, died at her home at the age of 75 years. The funeral is being held at the Presbyterian Church this afternoon, Rev. J. J. DePree officiating. Mrs. Diediker has been very sick for some time, and her death was not unexpected. She was born at Dubuque, nee Ada Peacock. Fifty years ago last April, she became the wife of Sam Diediker, and the young couple moved to LeMars, which has since been their home. Besides her sorrowing husband, Mrs. Diediker is survived by Mrs. H. F. Clasen of LeMars, and a son Sam Diediker, of Brunsville. A sister, Mrs. Mary Kaiser, makes her home at Los Angeles, and two brothers, James, also lives in California, and Frank lives at American Falls, Idaho. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LeMars Semi-Weekly Sentinel September 3, 1929 DEATH CLAIMS EARLY SETTLER. Mrs. Sam Diediker Had Been Resident Here More Than Fifty Years. Death claimed Mrs. Diediker, wife of Sam Diediker, aged 75 years, a pioneer of Plymouth county, at her home 1015 Central avenue SW, Saturday, August 31, after a lingering illness. Mrs. Diediker had been ill for a long time and her death was not unexpected. She was 75 years old last Thursday, having been born in Dubuque, August 29, 1854. Her maiden name was Ada Peacock. When she was a child, her parents moved to Webster City. She came to LeMars in pioneer days and was united in marriage with Sam Diediker, fifty years ago last April. They made their home in LeMars when first married and later moved to a farm where they lived and prospered for many years. Retiring from farm work, they returned to LeMars which has been their home since that time. Mrs. Diediker leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, one son, Sam Diediker, of Brunsville, and a daughter, Mrs. H. F. Clasen, of America township. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Mary Kaiser, of Los Angeles, Cal., and two brothers, Jas. Peacock, living in California, and Frank Peacock, of American Falls, Idaho. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church, Dr. J. J. DePree officiating, and interment made in the city cemetery. Mrs. Diediker was widely known in LeMars and vicinity, especially among the older settlers. She was a good Christian woman, helpful and neighborly, and active in church and community work.
