She was 61 years, 3 months and 13 days old. Mrs Carey was born on a farm east of Cincinnati 25 Apr 1893, the daughter of HL and Jessie Ann Lee Besse. She married Walter Carey 9 Jun 1915, and to this union, eight children were born, seven of whom survive. Surviving are her husband, children, LaVern Carey of Philadelphia PA; Charles Carey of Cresaptown MD; Curtis Carey of Council Bluffs; Mary Carey of Des Moines; Mrs Betty McCarty, Wichita KS; Mrs Jesse Burion of Cincinnati; and Wayne Carey of Independence IA. Five sisters survive. They are Mrs Ruth Stirts and Mrs Vivian Strickler of Cincinnati; Mrs Geneva Morrow of Exline; Mrs Iva Dunlap of Los Angeles; and Mrs Alice Rose of Carbonato WA. Her parents, one son, Walter L Carey and three sisters, Edna, Mrs Gladys Gardner and Mrs Vera Whitney Humeston preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 pm from the Cincinnati Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Contributor: jpaff (47876903)
