She was born October 16, 1923, near Leighton, Iowa, the second of five daughters born to Leonard Peter and Jennie Vander Voort Valster. Following school she helped her father on the family farm. On July 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Richard Drost at Camp Campbell, Kentucky. She was born October 16, 1923, near Leighton, Iowa, the second of five daughters born to Leonard Peter and Jennie Vander Voort Valster. Following school she helped her father on the family farm. On July 17, 1943, she was united in marriage to Richard Drost at Camp Campbell, Kentucky. Together, on February 20, 1944, Ada and Richard made profession of faith at the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. While Richard was away serving in the military, Ada lived with her parents and continued to help on the farm. In December of 1945, Richard returned from the service and joined Ada on the farm northwest of Oskaloosa. Ada worked on the farm along side Richard and their five children. There were few tasks that she could not complete. .She lived on that farm from the time she was 14 years old. Ada had a lifelong love for farming, she monitored her farm, and the farm markets thoughout her life. Education was always very important in the Drost home; all of their children earned degrees from William Penn University. Richard died on July 27, 1996. She was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa. She had a great love for the Lord, praying before each meal, reading her Bible and praying after each meal, and attending church regularly. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and canning. She also enjoyed sewing, and made hundreds of quilts. She was a very hard worker her entire life. Her family was the center of her world; she unconditionally loved each of them. Her family includes her five children and their spouses: Jim and Faye Drost, Carl and Martha Drost, Dick and Nellie Drost all of Oskaloosa, Tom and Cindy Drost of New Sharon, and Ann and Ed Boot of Naples, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; three sisters: Esther Dye of Omaha, Nebraska, Margarie Lillie of Centennial, Colorado, and Wautrina Covey of Oskaloosa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister: Leona Beyer. Funeral services for Ada Drost will be held Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Dale Visser officiating. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday in the fellowship hall of the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery near Leighton. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin Friday morning after 10:00 a.m. in the Bates Funeral chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel on Friday evening from 5:30 - 8:00 to greet friends and relatives.
